Munich, August 21th1945.

The Lord-Mayor
of the City of Munich.

To Head-Quarters of Military Government
at tn. Cpt.Laughlin

Munich- City-Hall.

Subject: Denomination of Streets.

From January 1920 to 1933 there has been in Bunich a "Schüleinplatz" and a "Schttleinstrasse", named after Commercial Councillor Schülein, who has had great merits by his various gifts for public and charitable purposes. Thanks to hie liberality it has been possible to build up the settlement on the "Schüleinplatz" and the square itself. In 1933 the name of the square and street was changed by the City Administration of the 3 Reioh for racial reasons to "Halserspitzplatz" and "Halserspitzstrasse", after the Halserspitze la the "Blue Mountains" in the Tegernsee area. The Bezirksvereinigung Neu-Berg-am-Laim has now made a motion that this change of name be revoked.

Mo doubt Schülein has deserved the denomination of the square and the street after his name. This name is most suitable, too, for the square and the street because the settlement adjoining the square is closely connected with the name of Schülein.

I therefore ask for your approval to rename the "Halserspitzplatz" and the "Halserspitzstrasse" into '’Schüleinplatz" and "Schüleinstrasse”.

In the 33 District of the City the street names of which have, since the incorporation of the District, not yet been taken over, the meaning of these names not being cleared yet, there is a "Georg-Sergl-Strasse*. As investigations have shown, said Sergl was a SA.Sturmführer.

I, herewith, ask for your consent to rename this street into "Bunenstraese* (Runen means old Germanic letters). This name was selected because there are. In immediate neighbourhood to this street, two more streets for which I already made a proposal of names out of the Old German History (Sachsenspiegel- und Schwabenspiegelstrasse), as per my letter of July 4th 1945.
